In recent years, Tabi is attracting attention as 'Japanese-style' which can be easily incorporated as fashion.

Since the city of Goda was a fertile land sandwiched between the Tone River and the Arakawa River, cultivation of cotton and indigo is thriving. And it was used as a raw material, and production of Tabi started in the middle of the Edo period.

Even now it boasts the top share of the country with production volume of 2.5 million to 3 million pairs per year.

The most important point that affects comfort is the process of sewing of the toe portion. It is important to finish it well and it requires skill of skilled craftsmen.

By using mainly cotton as a material, it is enhanced breathability.

The Tabi on the left are those of the design which won first place in the "indigo dyeing socks design contest".

Dye the white Tabi indigo ,and paint chemical and draw a pattern. The place where you painted the medicine becomes a white pattern.

The Tabi with leopard pattern fur on the right was planned by members of NPO corporate "Gyoda Tabukura Network" and made by craftsmen of "Tabi and Life Museum".

As well as traditional white tabi, use of stretchy materials and color Tabi are developed variously, we are also making Tabi to suit the present age.

- fashion point-

Left: Wearing leopard pattern Tabi and mesh inner will be cool girl fashion . If you make sports MIX with T - shirts and sandals, Harajuku Corde is completed without difficulty! Right: The contrast between the indigo Tabi and skirt red is new, retro-girl fashion. It also has a sense of balance to match sports sandals dare to girl-like style.
